Starts the construction of poroelastic test track on a street in Belgium

The poroelastic surfaces are characterized by high quantities of rubber crumb (around 20%) and a significant reduction in noise emissions, even up to 12 dB (A). The experimentation within the Life Nereide project aims to refine the mix design of this type of asphalt.

In the city of Gent, in Belgium, works began with the construction of poroelastic surface on “Noorderlaan" street.

The poroelastic surfaces are characterized by high quantities of rubber crumb (around 20%) and a significant reduction in noise emissions, even up to 12 dB (A).

The experimentation within the Life Nereide project aims to refine the mix design of this type of asphalt, overcoming some of the critical issues emerged in previous experiments.

The high quantity of recycled materials and the acoustic benefits achievable, make this technology deserving of further studies.

On the "Noorderlaan", in Belgium, works began on the removal of the old asphalt, while the works with the new paving will start in the next weeks.
